Day Long Soccer...

Coming back in a cab early this morning, the Blog and equipment guy, Marthell Vazquez, chatted with the cab driver about upcoming games in Rio today. Botafogo (the cab driver's team of choice) is taking on América de Cali in Copa Sudamerica action. Meanwhile, local underachiever Fluminese is taking on Goiás in a Brazilian Serie A league match tonight. We inquired about whether or not the driver was excited about Fluminese's suffering (remember their chocolate eating habit?) but he was pretty indifferent. Instead, he says he saves his ire for Flamengo, "one of only 100 people in Brazil," as he put put it, that dislikes the club.

There's some Champions League action today as well and all those games will be televised in our hotel. Right now we're about to head off to training and currently there's a major upset brewing in the FIFA Futsal World Cup. Defending champs Spain are down to Iran, 3-0, heading into halftime. If Iran were to win that game, well...it'd be a big shock to say the least. Stay tuned...
